The habits are shifting. Slowly, unevenly, but they’re shifting.
What This Actually Means
If you’ve tried AI and felt underwhelmed, don’t write off the tool. Examine the prompt.
Did you give it context about who you are? Did you tell it what you’re trying to accomplish and why? Did you mention your audience, your constraints, your preferred tone? Did you treat it like a collaborator who needs a briefing — or like a search bar that should already know?
The gap between a mediocre AI output and a genuinely useful one is almost always, at its root, a gap in context. The machine didn’t fail you. You just walked in like you were Googling something.
The good news: this is a learnable skill. And once you learn it, you can’t unknow it.
The better news: no one can replicate your context. Your perspective, your knowledge, your judgment — that’s not replicable by a model. It’s not interchangeable with anyone else’s. The uniqueness of the output depends entirely on the uniqueness of what you bring.
Which means the human element isn’t a footnote in the AI story.
